Welcome to Clear Thoughts

This website aims to cover lots of topics relating to mental health for people who have a learning disability.

It will try to make the information as easy to understand as possible.

Each section of the website will have an easy to read introduction page like this one. Using the buttons at the top of the pages will take you through all the easy to read pages.

This will outline what the other pages in the section say.

Each individual page will start with a line or two of easy to read information.

As you work down each page the words used will become more complex.

We will still try to keep the details as simple as possible.

The introduction pages are a good place to start on this website.

They will talk about what is a learning disability and what is mental health.

Everyone has 'mental health' some people have positive mental health so they can do the things they want to in life.

Some people have 'mental ill health' meaning they find this harder to do.

The following pages give some ideas that can help keep or get back positive mental health.

They also highlight the things that can cause mental ill health and the potential changes people may have to look out for.

Sometimes when people who have a learning disability also have mental ill health people miss these signs and they do not get any treatment. This is called 'overshadowing' and you can read more on the following pages.

Some pages also have links to other websites or resources that you might want to look at. There are also more of these in the seperate Links and Resources Section.
